Having tested positive for COVID-19, West Indies leg-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr. was ruled out of the One-Day International series against Bangladesh.

After being tested twice in the last two days here, 28-year-old Walsh turned positive. Upon his arrival in Dhaka on January 10, he tested negative. But tests on Wednesday and Thursday turned out to be positive, and now he is in self-isolation.

“Following PCR tests administered on Wednesday, January 13, Cricket West Indies (CWI) can confirm that Hayden Walsh Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19 and will now undergo a period of self-isolation,” the board said in a statement

“Walsh will remain in isolation until two negative PCR test results are returned and is therefore unavailable to play against Bangladesh in the coming three-match ODI series.”There is no threat to the three-match ODI series, beginning on January 20 in Dhaka.

Cricket West Indies said that Walsh had no contact with the other members of the squad. "The West Indies tour squad has been in isolation since they arrived in Bangladesh and there has been no contact between the members of the squad since their arrival. All other members of the West Indies Touring Team returned the second negative COVID-19 tests, after having undergone four tests in the last 11 days."
