Suresh Raina confirms to be a part of IPL 2021

Former India player and one of the key players of Chennai Super Kings squad – Suresh Raina has given the update of his participation in the cash-rich tournament – Indian Premier League. However, nearly after two years, he is all set to return to competitive cricket when he will be representing Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2020-21 season.

On the other hand, the BCCI is yet to announce the fixture of the season but it is confirmed that the T20 tournament will take place before the IPL auction for the next season.

While speaking to Dainik Jagran, Raina shared that he will soon be seen leading Uttar Pradesh in the domestic tournament. Apart from that, the left-handed batsman has also confirmed his participation in IPL 2021. Notably, he is a regular face for UP in white-ball games and he had also led the team to a title win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the 2015-16 season.

However, it is also noteworthy that, Suresh Raina hasn't taken part in any competitive match since the final of IPL 2019. He was about to play for Chennai in IPL 2020 and had also travelled to UAE for the league with the teammates. But, he pulled out his name and returned home after 13 members in the CSK camp had been tested positive for COVID-19.

Apart from him, Harbhajan Singh was another player who withdrew from the league this season. He didn't travel to UAE as well. While the league has been played in the UAE this season, next season is likely to be played in April and May and the BCCI hopes to host the league in India if the situation of COVID-19 cases remains under control.
