Indian Team Looks So Unsettled, Says Gautam Gambhir

The Indian team has been in Australia for a full-fledged series where they have faced a mixed result in the limited-overs series. They have lost the ODI series by 1-2 whereas won the T20I series by 2-1 as well. However, in the first Test, they lost by 8 wickets and all set to take on mighty Australia in the Boxing Day Test, which will begin on Saturday.

However, Team India has named the squad with four changes where Rishabh Pant will replace Wriddhiman Saha alongside other three changes. But former opener Gautam Gambhir said that team management has made players "insecure" by picking up Pant ahead of Saha and this is  "unfair" to both the wicketkeepers.

"It’s unfortunate and Wriddhiman Saha has played just one Test match in this series and he hasn't done well and gets dropped. Imagine what happens to Pant if he doesn’t do well in this Test or the third Test. What do you do then? Would you go back to Wriddhiman Saha," Gambhir questioned on YouTube channel 'Sports Today'.

"That’s why this team looks so unsettled because no one is secured. Professional sport is all about security. Everyone has talent when they are representing the country," Gambhir further added. "All they want is security and that assurance that we are there to back you, not just by words but by action."

However, Gambhir said that it's only India that rotates their wicketkeeper based on conditions. He also said that it's understandable when a team uses two spinners based on conditions. Meanwhile, Gambhir has rubbished the rotating theory of wicketkeepers.

"I have never believed in this theory of rotation policy that Wriddhiman Saha is only good for sub-continent and Rishabh Pant is better overseas because that’s not how good teams go into. If you are good in Indian conditions, you got to deliver in overseas conditions as well. Whether he does that or not is irrelevant," he concluded.
