Tamim all set to play the eliminator following corona negative result

Fortune Barishal heaved a sigh of relief as their skipper Tamim Iqbal is available in their do-or-die match against Beximco Dhaka in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup after being tested corona negative.

"Tamim Iqbal is corona negative," Fortune stated on Sunday.

Barishal will take on Dhaka in the eliminator to keep their hope alive in the competition while in the other match of the day Gemcon Khulna and Gazi Group Chattogram will lock horns in the qualifier to final.

The loser of the match will take on the winner of the eliminator on November 15.

Barisal were desperately looking forward to get a positive result regarding their  Tamim as his participation in the eliminator was subject to covid-19 clearance as he was sent to isolation following he was feeling cold after batting against Dhaka in their last match on November 12.

The news has come as a relief to Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] as a positive case would have raised questions regarding the bio-bubble security in place for the tournament as the five teams in the competition have been staying in the same hotel under a bio secured bubble setup by BCB on November 20.

A case inside the bio-bubble would have also put the ongoing discussion between BCB and Cricket West Indies in jeopardy as well that began after an inspection team from the Caribbean island visited Dhaka earlier this month to assess the Covid-19 management by the BCB alongside other arrangement and expressed satisfaction ahead of the series scheduled to start from January.

Tamim’s situation was first revealed on Saturday after the left-handed batsman was absent in the second innings of Beximco Dhaka and Fortune Barisal game. Concerns were raised when Tamim informed media that he had put in isolation at the hotel because he felt "very weak" upon returning from batting in the first innings.
