Justin Langer gives update on David Warner's injury

Swashbuckling Australia opener David Warner, who has been out of the squad due to his groin injury, has been doing everything to regain his fitness. However, there is no certainty that he will play against India in the third test, confirmed Australia coach Justin Langer on Sunday.

Notably, Warner tore his muscle before the four-match test series and was ruled out of the series opener in Adelaide as well as the ongoing 'Boxing Day' Test in Melbourne. Notably, the third test will begin on January 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

"As we’ve said for the last few weeks, there’s no one more professional and he’s doing everything possible," Justin Langer told host broadcaster Channel 7. "We saw him bat the day before the game. He’s batting again (in the nets) this afternoon here at the MCG. So in terms of his batting, he’s flying."

"It’s just …. he’s still having some trouble with his groin, and we know how dynamic he is, his running between the wickets, the way his movement is all the time. We still have a few more days until the next test match. Fingers crossed he’s ready to go," he again shared.

However, in David Warner's absence, Matthew Wade opened for Australia along with Joe Burns, and young all-rounder Cameron Green has been included in the middle order. While the new opening duo added 16 and 70 runs in Adelaide, they added only 10 runs in the first innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on day one of the second test on Saturday.

While Warner is still uncertain due to his injury, Burns' poor show has come under the scanner despite scoring an unbeaten 51 in Adelaide as Australia registered a comfortable victory by eight wickets inside three days in the first Test. Notably, the right-handed batsman has scored eight in the first innings at Adelaide and a duck in Melbourne on Saturday as well.
