Roach: Tigers are tough opponent

In 2009, Kemar Roach the right-arm pacer made his debut against Bangladesh. Roach thinks this is what gives him emotional confidence when he visits Bangladesh. The West Indies team is relatively inexperienced as the number of high-profile players, including Test skipper Jason Holder, have withdrawn their name from the Bangladesh tour. However, in just eight tests Roach took 33 wickets at an average of 19.78 against Bangladesh.

The pacer said, “Bangladesh squad is always difficult for fast bowlers, you have to be quite aggressive on the field if you want to attack the opposing batsmen.” He also said that the pacers have a job to do and will help the team execute their plans if they can implement the tactics properly.

"We have a job to do, me and Shannon [Gabriel]. Alzarri [Joseph] as well," Roach said.

He added, “The spinners will obviously do the bulk of the work but I think once we do what we are best at, which is taking wickets, it will help the team and the bowling unit. If we can do that, we can obviously execute our plans better. We have been planning well and having conversations with the bowling coach so we know what we want to do. Things are in motion and we're looking forward to the series."

Bangladesh is a tough opponent for any team at home. Earlier, the Tigers won against England and Australia by taking a spin-friendly wicket. The West Indies also had to be whitewashed in two Test series when they toured Bangladesh in 2016. He said,“They are very tough opponents, 'I think that's right. Since as a team they have developed here.”

The West Indies are set to play two-match Test and a three-match ODI series against the Tiger’s.Bangladesh and West Indies will lock horn for their first ODI of the three-match series on the 20th later this month at the Sher-e-Bangla International Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Following the conclusion of the ODI series on January 25, West Indies will face Bangladesh in the first Test at Chattogram on February 3.
