Academy premises set to turn as isolation center during Bangabandhu T20

Bangladesh Cricket Board official said that they will start the corona test of the cricketers from September 20 as they are expected to enter into the bio-bubble from the following day ahead of the Bangabandhu T20 tournament.

BCB is expected to have three layer of bio-bubble in the tournament as earlier it was only two layers that was compromised with hotel and stadium while this time round Krirapalli will be included as the grounds man is expected to stay there.

BCB had made three categories with the ‘A’ involving players and match officials ‘B’ comprising with broadcasters and ‘C’ for ground men.

‘’We will do the corona test of the cricketers on November 20. They are expected to enter the hotel on November 21,’’ BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury reporters on Wednesday adding that ground floor of the academy premises will be used as isolation center during the tournament.

‘’The first floor of academy will be used as isolation center while the second floor will be used for other things,’’ he said.

‘’The players are expected to stay in Sonargaon while broadcasters will stay in Lakeshore and the grounds man and cleaner will either stay in KriraPalli or where they are staying now,’’ he said.

BCB now looks adamant to host the five-team T-20 tournament after successfully completing the President’s Cup under the new-normal environment that includes keeping the cricketers and the members of the team management under the bio-bubble by isolating them in a hotel during the entire tournament.

BCB had earlier announced that there will be no BPL, the country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament, this year while they opted to launch the proposed domestic T20 competition as the second part of their resumption plan before bringing domestic cricket on a broader scale across the country.
